We might relocate to Tampa. My husband would work in Tampa ( westshore area). Where should we focus our house hunt?

- family with 2 preschool children ( so good schools, playground, stores, restaurants close by)
- nice SAFE neighborhoods where we could buy a nice house in the $400k
- commute time around 30min ( if possible in Tampa?)

Please help...from looking on the internet at realestate it looks like we could find something nice in Westchase, Valrico, Lutz, Wesley Chapel...but how far is it to Tampa ( commute time?) ...any other communities?

Thank you for helping!

For Commute time, I would suggest Westchase area or even South Tampa(33629, 33609) both are VERY convenient to Westshore. South Tampa has a more neighborhood in the city vibe with some of the top rated elementary and secondary public schools(Plant Hight School for example), lots of pocket neighborhoods, historic older homes, and brand new home sites. Westchase is suburbia, mostly gated community, small main street like area.

South Tampa is the nicest established area in Tampa and the people that live there are friendly and courteous, lots of young people with children. If I was moving to Tampa and know what I know now about Tampa, South Tampa would be the place I would move to and with house prices in decline you can find some great deals.

I concur, although Wesley Chapel/New Tampa are worth mentioning despite the longer commute times.

Way better Real Estate values in Westchase/Countryway area compared to South Tampa

Spring Hill is a good match. Cortez Rd. which runs through SH is just mins. from the Veteran's Exprsway. and will put you in Tampa in about 35 to 45 mins. depending on season and time of day.
