Where would you move if you were a couple of young blue collar class people with a young daughter? Not rich by any means but should be able to save up around 100K before the move. Looking to be within 30 miles or so of Tampa. Good schooling and a nice neighborhood is a must. Just throw a city or 2 out there for me so I can start to research. Thanks!

Safety Harbor. Great town on the bay. Close to everything and 15-20 minute drive to Tampa.

We are looking into Land o Lakes. Pasco County mainly. Property taxes are lower and you are far enough from the city but as close as you need.

You don't give a lot of hints as to what you're looking for.....I'd check out something close to where you'll be working(within 30 mins) Check out Trinity, Land O Lakes, New Tampa, Brandon, Riverview....All have plusses & minuses

What part of Tampa? Do you mean downtown Tampa? Would you be traveling during the height of traffic. What might take 30 minutes without taffic, could take an hour or longer.

Spring Hill does not have a good school district, unless you are from Florida. Even their charter schools have received failing grades and it is 45 miles not minutes north of Tampa, big difference depending on the time of day. It is also getting very run down and loaded with vacant and foreclosed homes.

Unless your moving here with jobs, and doesn't sound like you are I wouldn't do it. Why blow through your savings? Keep in mind salaries are much lower here.

I would come down here first(in the summer) and see what you think and put out feelers for jobs. But to come down here with no work and use up all your savings would be foolish. JMO.

I've heard that there are many residents in the Tampa/Clearwater area originally from Philadelphia ~ they like the area so they can see the Phillies Spring Training. Any truth to that?
