"“It’s really a message of hypocrisy where we see this union representative saying it’s not safe to go back, yet he feels safe enough to take his daughter to an in-person institution,” said Zachreson. [affiliated with Reopen California Schools]."

Parents are clamoring for reopening schools without teachers necessarily having been fully vaccinated. The CDC agrees with this position. "Preliminary research found low rates of virus transmission within schools and President Biden’s CDC Director Rochelle Walensky last week said schools can safely reopen even without teacher vaccination."

Soon, children will have lost another semester of learning. Can you imagine the clamor from the unions if school boards decide to use the summer as an opportunity to make up for learning lost during the regular school year?

Not surprising at all. Time for all the lazy teachers to get off their butts and back into the classrooms or be replaced.

So teachers should collectively defy government orders and reopen the schools without permission?

It could be just like the Capitol riot! What a great idea, and what could possibly go wrong?

Oh, and be replaced by whom? There was already a growing nationwide teacher shortage.

Teacher’s unions have been actively fighting to keep teachers out of the classrooms. I’m sure there are teachers that want to go back in. However, every time I’ve seen a return time frame mentioned to go back into the classrooms, the teacher’s unions are screaming about how dangerous it is. Science and data don’t support that. If you’re too scared to go back, find a new career.

Comparing it to the Capital riots is flat out stupid. I’m guessing you’re a union leader.

There are teachers who have gone back in. I am in Chicagoland and outside of the city, most school districts have been open for a hybrid schedule. My neighbor teaches science and she has to go in every day, even when the kids are not there.

or... we (USA) could just test daily, as S Korea and much of Asia has been capable of for over a yr...

Co-workers in Asia (and much of Europe) have been in class since March 2020.

USA educators could have used the DOWNTIME to re-invent USA education and start graduating competitive potential employees, or start off-loading "Babysitting" in USA universities.
