Hi everyone, Now that we have found our perfect home in Church Hill, I would like to know just what I can expect of the area? I met my neighbors and they are very nice but I really do not know anything about CH. Can anyone fill me in on their observences? It's just a general question. Thanks.

for the past 10 years (Deerfield Plantation). They moved from Kingsport and love living in CH, but their heavily wooded 3+ acres was getting too big for them to handle now that Dad's hit 70.
They recently closed on a patio home at Volunteer Pointe, across from Volunteer HS. As you probably know, CH doesn't have much of a downtown to speak of but there's still a very strong community spirit there. My parents' neighbors have both been super helpful over the years and like most small towns in TN, neighborliness is almost a given. It seems that life for most folks there tends to revolve around family, friends, churches, schools & The Mountaineer restaurant. There's a very nice park behind Food City if you haven't discovered it yet. If you'd like more specific info on Church Hill, just holler & I'll try to help. |

We bought in Kinkead Terrace. I do not know where we are in relation to downtown or anywhere else in CH. I just know we loved the house and the area. I don't think we are in the county. If you can put it in perspective for me that would be nice. I'll have to find the Mountair Restraraunt, bet it is real good cooking.

The Mountaineer isn't far from you at all. Just turn left out of your subdivision onto Central Ave. and go to Hwy. 11W, the restaurant will be on your right at that intersection. The Mountaineer's food quality isn't what it once was, but it still packs 'em in, especially for their famous banana split dessert:
GoTricities.com > Diners go bananas over Mountaineer Behind that restaurant is Food Lion shopping center, which has a Dollar General, a movie rental place & a surprisingly good Chinese take-out restaurant. The locals love the bi-weekly fish fries at the two Ruritan clubs on Carters Valley Rd., as well as the one at McPheeters Bend Elementary School on Goshen Valley Road. A great place for a picnic is Laurel Run Park, only about 10 minutes from you. It's where the The River was filmed (w/ Mel Gibson & Sissy Spacek): Tennessee Vacation - Laurel Run Park For a really nice drive through the countryside, head in either direction on Stanley Valley Road. On the 4th, Rogersville (about 20 minutes from Church Hill) has one of the best fireworks displays -- and some of the scariest-looking, albeit harmless, people -- you'll see anywere. Never heard an authentic "Rebel yell" before? You will here: Rogersville's 4th of July Celebration And Kingsport's Fun Fest is just around the corner: Fun Fest 2007 - July 13-21 - Kingsport,TN Welcome to East Tennessee! klosk - Church Hill has the Mountaineer restaurant and Pal's Sudden Serve Drive -Thru; you're set! LOL Hawkins County is a nice place to live, it will all fall into place there. Stone Drive (11W) is the main road and it will take you to Wal-Mart, grocery stores and Home Depot, keep going a little further and you will run into the new Target and Kohl's.
