I don't plan to resurface until nighttime, when it drops back down to the sixties and seventies.
Do you have air conditioning?

air conditioning is only good at lowering the inside temp by about 20 degrees. If it really gets to 108 tomorrow that still leaves me at 88 degrees which isn't exactly comfortable

You need to get your A/C checked. I use to live in Florida but have had very high temps even up north. If you can't get it below 88 degrees, no matter the outside temp, you probably have an A/C or insulation problem.

Yep, but I'm a tightwad. My last utility bill was $45 and I kinda like it like that, LOL.
I'm going to set my thermostat at 82 for the next few days and only come up for food. I have everything else I need in the basement, including internet.

Knoxville rates are fabulous. My last bill was $65. That includes five outside lights including floods, constant lights on inside the house, night and day, and televisions, computers used almost constantly. I usually run the dishwasher and washer and dryer once a day. Plus I keep the air either at 72 or 76.

Now that sounds like a good time. I'd look forward to a heat wave for that.

Fireworks might be dangerous for fires now.

They've cancelled Athens' fireworks. Knoxville's are still a go as of now. Sales of fireworks are up, though.

Dry conditions pose danger for using fireworks

It's dry as a bone out there. It made it to 102 in parts of Knox County, yesterday, but with the dew point it make the heat index actually lower. For someone that use to live in Southwest Florida, it wasn't bad at all. And it is record breaking heat across the country right now, anyway. Meanwhile, here the dew point still isn't bad but it is creeping up.

Right now it is 83 here in Knoxville at 10 a.m., Nashville has 89 at 9 a.m. and in Memphis it is 90 but feels like 95 at 9 a.m.
