Especially to the New Orleans transplants.

WDSU, Nola.com and Earthcam have video feeds if anyone wants to view from a distance and are wishing they were here.

Since Katrina, and so many former people from NO moving to Nashville, I have eaten more King Cake than I ever thought possible. One guy brings one in every couple of weeks.

Looking at the cams, the crowd looks sparse -- this time of day you usually can't even move, it's so crowded. It was actually a bit scary so we would head over to Royal or down to Jackson Sq.

Living here in NO. I just cant seem to enjoy the carnival season very much. I guess having had to work through Mardi Gras, making my way to and from work in down town N.O. during peak parade season, has soured me a bit. Although I do very much enjoy the apple filled king cakes! Any way, I know quite a few folks who are no longer here miss it. Happy Mardi Gras!

Well, if I'm not mistaken, the one thing she (or he) did save was their drink.
