I'm a new poster here, and also a dyed-in-the-wool smoker. I've been thinking about moving to Memphis or Nashville and I was wondering if anyone could tell me the smoking restrictions in these cities. E.g: can you smoke anywhere in office buildings? in restaurants? in bars? Is there talk about moving towards more restrictions?

I've been smoking for a long time and can't see myself quitting anytime soon, so these considerations are somewhat important to me. I know Ohio just banned all public indoor smoking and my current city (Philadelphia, PA) will ban smoking even in bars on Jan. 1, 2007.

I apologize if this question has already been answered in another thread.

Here's the report card for Tennessee from the American Lung Association. For what you are looking for, it will tell you where (in what kind of buildings/establishments) there are smoking provisions or restrictions in TN:
