Well. Do a zillow or realtor.com search and you'll get an idea how expensive lakefront is. There are places for sale but man -- they are pricy.
I think you should narrow your search to a specific town or lake and then start looking at real estate to get an idea of what is available.

Well this is why I’m trying to get some advice of lakefront areas. We will probably end up going lake view which is perfectly fine with us!

Wouldn't it be prudent to look for a lake that might be near your employment? Budget?

Budget is around 200-250k, 300k at the absolute highest. I still live in CT so will basing employment off of location rather than the latter.

In upper east TN, your only realistic option is going to be a townhome or condo on Boone Lake that has some sort of community boat ramp. There are a couple of communities like this.

How about Watts Bar, Norris Lake, Douglas Lake, Cherokee Lake, Fort Loudoun Lake, Tellico Lake?

Cherokee might be doable. It's not as pretty as the others - fairly remote, no jobs in the area. I doubt you'll get a single family home with lake access for that, but you might get a decent lake view or community with a community boat ramp.

Norris is beautiful - on par with South Holston and Watauga. It's big money.

I'm not that familiar with the others - they are more toward Knoxville.

That’s an important aspect as well, jobs. She is a nurse and I work in law enforcement. Definitely not living in a city or a large populated area that’s not our style. Town doesn’t have to be super small.
