Chattanooga has great weather-very hot summers. It's on the Tennessee River with lots of water activity and incredible parks. Right now the Riverbend Festival is going on downtown with 9 days of music-Vince Gill, Jars of Clay, Chris Daughtry. You can live 20-30 minutes from downtown Chattanooga and be in the country with acreage very reasonably priced-look at realtycenter.com. Downtown Chattanooga has an Aquarium, Creative Discovery Museum for kids, Hunter Museum of Art, a zoo, great restaurants, museums, concert venues, a free shuttle bus, a walking bridge to the North Shore with a great park. There are endless activites for kids. We homeschool and there are so many homeschool activities, support groups and co-ops that your kids will have plenty to do. There is a homeschool band, mock trial, sports activities, homeschool graduation & banquet-look at csthea.org for links to support groups-there is a newsletter that is a great resource for classes, sports, concerts, fiel trips, etc. It's a little bit of an adjustment to the slower pace-but it is a good adjustment. People are generally polite, cars don't lean on the horn at you and it's very unusual to hear cursing. Many, many churches with youth groups and even more activities.I think it's a great place to raise kids.

We drove through Chattanooga on our way back to Florida during rush hour evening traffic and we sat on the interstate for a while. Traffic was backed up in all directions.....what a mess! I wouldn't live there.

Did you drive through Knoxville during rush-hour traffic? It's worse!
