Hey guys. Been on these forums for a bit reading and posting but now I need some advice. I'll be moving to Temple within a year to be closer to my mom who lives in Killeen. It was between Tyler and Temple both of which I think are a step up from Texarkana. Anyway, I have no children so don't care about schools. My question to people familiar to Temple, is it relatively safe and since I'm disabled and deal with an assortment of health issues, is their health care pretty good? Thanks in advance for any feedback. Greatly appreciate it.

what is your budget for housing?I would assume health care is good cuz of Scott and White.I would not worry about crime as long you stay away from the wrong crowd, live in a good neighborhood and use common sense.

Scott and White is very good. My daughter is disabled and we have been very pleased with the healthcare. I would 2nd C24L. I'm pretty sure there are some nicer apartments on 31st street south of the hospital. It seems that north of the hospital is a little sketchy. I would rent a small apartment or maybe stay with your mom for a few weeks while you feel the area out.

I ask the question about safety because I know absolutely nothing about Temple. I stay to myself and am not a social person but certainly don't want to put myself in a position to be a target either. I receive social security disability so my total budget is not a lot. Like I said earlier security and quality of healthcare are my main concerns. I'm going to look up more about Scott and White. Thanks for your response.

Thank you ck77. My mom lives in Killeen but I'll probably stay with her at first while looking for an apartment.

Temple itself is pretty safe if you look at the crime stats. But like any city some of it depends on where you live. Some parts are very safe. Some not so much. But overall it's a safe city and I've never felt at risk in Temple, ever.

Health Care is great. Scott and White is a huge Level 1 trauma center with every specialist you can think of and the home of Texas A&M medical school.

Thanks! I'm sure it'll be a better and welcome change from Texarkana.

Hi,
Temple is a great city in Central Texas. My sister is residing there from last 5 years. I also visited the city 3 times and I like it.
Thanks.
