All he had to do was take away the computer.

This really has little to do with anything the daughter did or did not do, but rather with the man's own upbringing and what it did to him.

Alice Miller - Child Abuse and Mistreatment

Quote:
Beaten children very early on assimilate the violence they endured, which they may glorify and apply later as parents, in believing that they deserved the punishment and were beaten out of love. They don't know that the only reason for the punishments they have ( or in retrospect, had) to endure is the fact that their parents themselves endured and learned violence without being able to question it. Later, the adults, once abused children, beat their own children and often feel grateful to their parents who mistreated them when they were small and defenseless.
The daughter is very wise to say that this is her dad's problem and he needs help.

The real victim here is the dad.

Also, since no one seems that concerned about it...it's a big difference to be spanking your 3-4 year old and your 16 year old. That's another line he crossed. After a certain age, it's not appropriate to spank your kid.

Or, at any age, whip them with a belt over and over while hurling obscenities at them.

I don't know about that. As long as you're under your parents roof; they're still allowed to discipline you however they want; as long as it's appropriate and legal. I don't believe this woman is as innocent as people think. I'm just not buying the whole releasing the tape 7 years later because her father was harassing her.

Except the DA's office found that there was enough misconduct in the video to warrant legal action. The only reason why they are not pressing charges was because the statue of limitations has expired.

If the video was released a few years earlier the judge would probably be facing some time behind bars.

Doubt it. This was only seen as abuse to some people.

Its for their own good, right?

Why did the dad just take the computer away? That would have been appropriate.

Again, this is not about what she did or did not do. Its about the dad's inability to control his emotions.

Yes; are you all going to continuously act clueless and ignore that fact that after being repeatedly told not to do something; she kept doing it??? Sure he could have taken the computer way, but she also should have listened to her father. I bet the children run ya'll households.

I am afraid you on the far minority on that one. Like I said earlier even the DA's office found there were enough reasons to press charges, they were just prevented from doing so because of the statue of limitations.

There are way more effective forms of discipline than beating your kid up.

There'e a reason why Texas has one of the highest crime rates on the country. Too many Texans condone this type of abuse. Obviously, violent behavior towards one's children doesn't work. Look at the numbers. It's not rocket science people.

I am guessing this was just one of many of those type BEATINGS. The daughter was able to catch one.

Looks like the guy was a pro. The mother is also a piece of work and I am not buying she was a victim. She egged him on.

blkgiraffe don't bother to reply...I have you on ignore
