In the ag exempt areas, I understand that you only get that exemption if you are raising some animals. Is that correct?

- Can you just have chickens?

- How many animals do you have to have to get the exemption?

- What type of animals do you have to have?

- What if I buy ag exempt property, now and do not develop it for a few
years...do I get the exemption while it is undeveloped?

Thanks.

Well i don't know the ends in out of the rules but I do know we have to apply for it every year at the county courthouse bothersome but it does save alot.

http://www.window.state.tx.us/taxinf...rms/96-313.pdf that is for protery tax law in the state of Texas

Good luck, maybe a realtor when you are ready to buy can get you in touch with a good tax guy to tell ya about the ends in out. I don't know of anyone that has some chickens and gets the exemption.

Neddy that was funny. Yep, if I could get away with a few chickens...I would do it. Guinea pigs, if I could get away with it. I really didn't want to raise any animals, because I won't be able to up and fly out of town whenever I want. But I would love to get the exemption. I do love animals and wouldn't mind some horses, but I just worry about not being able to travel if I want to. Otherwise it would be fine. Dogs, cats and horses.

PS...thanks for the link. I took a look at it. Lots of good info.
