Heloo

I'm learning english. I am from Croatia.
I need help with one photo.
What does it mean number 150 on map? Is it the 150th birthday of Texas?
And what year is photo taken? If Texas won indenpendence in 1836. I conclude this photo is in 1986. (1836+150)
Or maybe, 1845 (when Texas join the states). 1845+150=1995.....

Can someone tell me something about photo?

Thans

Judging by the haircuts, dress and general state of things in the room, my guess is that the picture is from 1986 like you guessed.

I'm going to disagree about the 1986 date. Since it says "Happy Birthday Texas" I would expect it to be celebrating the Sesquicentennial of Texas statehood, meaning the photo is from 1995.

Before Texas achieved statehood, it was an independent republic, so it makes no sense to me that the date of becoming a republic would be considered a birthday in today's terms.

Texas celebrates the 1836 date. There was a huge centennial celebration in 1936. There was a big sesquicentennial in 1986. There was zilch in 1995.

Just because it makes no sense to you does not change the facts.
You must not be a Texan.

Texas throws 150-year birthday party. But in midst of celebration, Texans uncertain about the future / The Christian Science Monitor - CSMonitor.com

An article about the Texas birthday..it was 86 cause I remember everyone having to learn that word! Good try though!

Okay...I stand corrected. It's certainly not the first, nor the last, time I've been wrong. Most of the other states celebrate birthdays on the day they became a state. But of course Texas is exceptional in having been not only a republic, but under "six flags" prior to becoming a state.

And yes, I am a native Texan but was not around at the time of the event in question.
