I was wondering if I'm building a new house in an inland zone 2. How much/ how difficult it would be to ask the builder to upgrade to a zone 1 . What are structural differences from a zone 1 vs zone 2?
Would a builder be able grant that request with ease?

Zone 1: Locations within 1 mile of the mean high tide and with winds from 110 mph up to 120 mph.

Zone 2: Locations greater than 1 mile of mean high tide with winds from 120 mph up to 130 mph.

As for the price that's up to your builder and at what stage your house is in, if at the start up then it wont be that much of a difference but submit a change order mid-way then the price will be a lot higher.

Looking into that website it doesn't give you a clear cut explanation on how structurally different a zone 1 vs zone 2 is (except for it to withstand 120 mph winds for 3 sec).
Was wondering if there was especiall hooks/nails
