OHS Girls Pep Rally For Gender Equality

Students submitted a photograph of what appears to be female students at an OHS pep rally holding up a sign.

"If my shoulders are too distracting, so are your nipples," the sign read.

The person who posted the image (which you can see in the attachment) told CBS 7 that it was unfair that some boys at the pep rally were allowed to take off their shirts while female students were not allowed to show their shoulders.

And according to ECISD Spokesperson Mike Adkins, dress codes have long banned spaghetti straps or tank-tops which show shoulders.

So what do you think of the bold statement they made at the pep rally.

I think Texas needs to join the 20th century already and stop acting like a bunch of Wahabi Islamo-fascists.

Good for her. Students need to learn to question authority in constructive ways. Makes for better citizens in the future.

As for school dress codes, schools need to draw the line someplace. Otherwise girls will walk into class with bikini tops and booty shorts and boys will show in tank tops and shorts and flip flops or barefoot. Kids will be kids and they will push the envelope as far as they can push it.

But I do agree that there is really no need to distinguish between the sexes on the dress codes. No sleeveless tops for boys or girls, no crop tops showing belly skin for girls or boys, and no shorts or skirts that are too short for boys and girls. Pretty simple. There is no need to do anything different for girls, just have one dress code for everyone.

Agreed. There needs to be a dress code. It doesn't need be very conservative, just draw a reasonable line somewhere and apply it to everyone.

Agreed. We are so flooded with these SJW types moving in from elsewhere turning our state purple and as we all know by now, SJWs are the present day puritans. You say something that doesn't jive and all hell breaks loose. So much for "I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it."

I'm pretty sure he was talking about the puritan types who are stuck in a 1950s-era cultural mindset.

Puritans are an interesting example. They have a reputation for being prudish and uptight, but really they were more like free loving hippies. The puritans eventually made more rules about sex because they needed those rules as things were getting out of control.

People need to get over the puritanical hang-ups, I've never understood why a man with bigger boobs than I have can go shirtless, yet if I try people freak out and try covering their childrens eyes
