San Antonio get talked about, just not as much as the other 3. Now Fort Worth OTOH is the least talked about city in Texas.

First of all, Austin will never have the vibe of San Francisco. San Antonio is the hidden gem of big cities in Texas and it is well known in Mexico, especially the 100K wealthy nationals that live there. Houston is probably the best overall city in Texas. Galveston is the best small town in Texas and Waco is coming into its own. East Texas is very underrated. El Paso and Lubbock/Amarillo needs some love. Dallas is the most sophisticated city and Fort Worth is the best down to earth city. Corpus Christi has the most potential to be a resort-like area aka San Diego if they get more forward-looking leadership

I'm surprised with how fancy Houston is getting. It's giving Dallas competition

It's because San Antonio residents live simple lives. We are the mature brother of Austin. You really don't see SA residents try to claim to be the best. Rarely are we in city vs city threads. We are used to getting overlooked, even when the statistics prove otherwise. Take the Oakland Raiders wanting to move to Las Vegas, for example. SA has an advantage over Vegas in almost every category. But two reasons they didn't move here... for one, it's "Vegas" and two, Jerry Jones. But that's ok. We are used to nuances like that. We have the Spurs and love them very much. Also like another said, Fort Worth is very comparable to SA in that they're very rich in culture and don't flaunt their looks.
Some people get this notion that because SA is not talked about a lot that there isn't much to do here. Austinites and others are recently discovering otherwise though and moving down here which is helping create more jobs and bring more skill. Over the past several years, SA is going through a bit of an identity change. City Council and the past couple of mayors have been going thru an initiative to make SA more recognizable and bring more urban life and jobs down here. Many city projects are taking shape. The outcome of SA continues to look great.
Oh and did I mention there is so much to do here and so much Texas culture to see? 2 major cities within an hour of each other surrounded by the beautiful Texas hill country. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else in Texas.

What's worst than San Antonio in not getting attention: San Jose since it's completely none existence when it comes to name recognition. San Jose is a forgotten and completely unknown city, and San Antonio is just somewhat overlooked but with some recognition as tourist city. So it could be a whole lot worse.

And the Spurs. They were winning championships before but it wasn't until the 2010s (especially the first Miami final) that made them very popular and brought them out of the "small town market team" and into a legit bandwagon team now. Even when they head great players like Robinson before, I dont think they were as popular as they are now among general basketball fans.

and SA has Uber and Lyft (that helps!) $6 rides to the airport are nice!

AUS traffic to airport (or anywhere) is very burdensome.
