There was previously a Rodeo vs State Fair poll.

This time around, I thought it would be interesting to see how these events, which are their respective city’s signature events rank against eachother.

Fiesta San Antonio
Mardi Gras - Galveston
Rodeo - Houston
South by Southwest - Austin
Stock Show - Fort Worth
Texas State Fair - Dallas

South by Southwest (Austin) seems to be the one that is most widely known in the US and around the world... but I wouldn't say it's Texas’ best signature event.

... and do people from outside of San Antonio even know about Fiesta?

I went with the Houston Rodeo, since so many memorable concerts were performed during that event.

I’d say the big 3 are rodeo, state fair and SXSW. But fiesta is probably the fourth most well known out of this group.

I think SXSW stands above the rest in national recognition, but like Malcorub16 I chose the Rodeo as it is a more broadly, stereotypically Texan signature event

Who knows - I'm not going to any of them and never have.

I remember the Today Show doing a remote broadcast from Fiesta back in the 70s! I think for a couple days.

Well, for sentimental reasons I'll vote for the State Fair. Every school child in Dallas (maybe elsewhere too) gets a free ticket every year. Or at least they did back when I was a school child and dinosaurs still roamed the earth.

People from outside of San Antonio (3+ hours away) go to fiesta as well as Wurstfest. I have met them.

I agree about SXSW not really being a texas event. It has to be the Houston rodeo or the state fair. Haven’t been to either one before but I really want to.

I will lock in my pick after I have attended both!

I voted for SXSW because it’s more of my thing.
