OK..we might have just one more move in us before our final resting places.

Moving from central Virginia to Tucson Arizona we thought this would be mecca, however.

It appears we gun owner Trump supporters are coming up in short supply or feel we need to hide our beliefs as the government and residents are swinging totally left. Last straw is our local mayor sending tax payer funds to one of George Soros's radical groups to disrupt free speech recently at Berkley in addition to funding stupid business ventures while our infrastructure crumbles, sound familiar? Tucson's crime rate is rising big time, I guess now we are to become a sanctuary city if not already.

I love my house and location, we were thinking adding some big upgrades such as pool etc. but now I am thinking maybe to get out now.

Both retired and healthy in our 60's. I work part time at Brighton and enjoy having some infrastructure, nice grocery stores, shopping and local pub, golf course close by.

Yes I know Texas is hot, so is Tucson even though we are up 3300 feet. Weather is a concern though in your area.

Looking for moderate home, larger lots like 1 acre, pricing is important under $240K with a pool/spa. Good medical is important at our age, closer airport, not to windy all the time, place to shoot, not a high traffic area. Lower cost of living..insurance etc.

I would love to here about where you live, pros and cons.

If true sounds like the inbound population is coming from liberal states which have become bankrupt, they have run out of other peoples money. I love Don't Mess with Texas, I wish to surround us with more conservative thinking folks, mentally and financially sound government officials etc.

Think Mississippi or Alabama would be better. Maybe parts of East Texas but medical care isn't great there. Texas is heavily urbanized and our urban areas with a few exceptions are Democratic. Your low price range on housing puts Republican areas like the Northern Houston and Dallas suburbs firmly out of reach.

Politically, no other state shifted further into the Democratic column in the last election than Texas. Voter suppression has slowed the inevitability of the demographic creep but the reality is Texas is a young state and young people here are overwhelmingly Democrats, especially in cities that are growing. When they start voting(something that happens as people age) the state will shift.

I don't mind Republicans. Some of my closest friends are Republicans. We have manners and agree to avoid talking about politics. Loud mouth intolerant people I have a problem with. The old Texas attitude of "live and let live" and "I won't bother you if you don't bother me." is going away because of intolerant, loud transplants moving in. I've also seen a decline in old style Texas manners as well.

Quit watching the damn news so much. People put way to much emphasis on religion and politics.

If you love your home, stay put, BE YOUR OWN PERSON and enjoy life as it comes.

+1. Texas isn't the right place for the OP. Attitudes like that don't go over well.
