Well, considering hurricanes have caused major damage in Houston and don’t in Dallas, I don’t see what his comment missed.

It was more his characterization of the comment as "the big one" Meaning (I guess) that this is the most important difference between the two . If that is what he was inferring then his choice of living in League City is curious, unless this was a recent epiphany ...

Default Be careful with comparing natural fisasters

I reccomend that we do not use natural disasters as a comparison item. 1953 Was bad year for Dallas. Just like 1900 was a bad year for Galveston. Houston has had hurricanes and tropical storms as well. Both cities have had their share of natural disasters. Dallas has had some very severe storms this year with bad hail storms and the biggest threat is a Tornado outbreak.

You are eating at the wrong places then. I agree Houston has better restaurants over all, but it isn't by miles, and it isn't every food type.

See this is where you Houston people lose me.

I like Houston a lot but it has to have the most insecure residents of any place I've ever been.

Be confident enough in your city to say "Yeah, we get flooding, and yea our natural disaster scene is worse than Dallas, but it's worth it because we love our city and Houston is better than Dallas"

No one in California goes "Actually the big one could happen any time but Dallas gets tornadoes so if we fall into the pacific it isn't a big deal because 70 years ago 10 people were killed by a tornado in Dallas."

The 1953 Tornado killed 10 people and caused 4 million in damages. An online calculator says that's about 38 million in today's dollars.

I'm sorry but hurricanes do much more damage than that.

Dallas has a Hockey Team, Houston does not.

Sorry, no.

The death and damage count from natural disasters is EXPONENTIALLY higher than DFW.

This. Dallas still leads in Korean and Indian IMO. But yeah, Houston is unquestionably a better food city.

And yeah, for being such a great city Houston has one hell of an inferiority complex.

No matter how you look at it Houston has a better medical system than Dallas. Whether you're talking about number of hospitals, number of beds, number of teaching institutions, number of world renown facilities, etc etc etc. The Texas Medical Center is easily the largest and nicest medical center in the world, not just in Texas or the US.

If you or a loved one is diagnosed with cancer, there's nowhere better place on the planet to seek treatment than MD Anderson in Houston Texas.

Default Menil Collection and other cultural contributions

Does Dallas have anything like "THE BEAN" OR the Menil collection or Rothko Chapel, Miller Theater, China Town, The Orange Show, Art Car Parade, how about all the Mardi Gras Krewes. Houston even has a maritime culture.
I could go on but does Dallas have as much cultural diversity as Houston does? I know Dallas has a Mardi Gras celebration in Bishop Arts. Houston has so many festivals during the year there are too many to list.
