Saw this in the Statesman today where it seems that there will be a lot of lobbying towards this session of the Lege in favor of legalizing gambling and opening the doors to casinos.

What do you guys think? I see zero chance that the Lege would pass any expansion on their own, but IIRC the Texas Constitution requires any question of gambling expansion to be put to a vote. If put to the voters I'm confident it would easily pass.

Thanks.

I'm now curious to know why they're allowed to operate in the state.

Never mind.

It appears that casino and 2 others are owned by Indian Tribes, and they've been operating under the presumption that the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act gives them the right to do so.

It seems there's also been a number of legal battles with the state of Texas to try and close them.

The one in Livingston is called Naskila gaming. Both operate under reservation so that’s how they get around it

Correct. Lucky Eagle is on the Kicakpoo Tribal Land outside of Eagle Pass and its a far cry from a normal casino( no card games/tables on the property) like you would find next door in Louisiana or any other state that legalizes gambling.
