Lol, this is funny where did you find that map? I speak Russian fluently so it would be cool to have a map like this. I guess you could buy one in Russia that was printed in Russian.

This map is from the Russian language article about Texas on Wikipedia.

It never will happen, but I remember a TV miniseries back in the 80's called "Amerika", about a bloodless takeover of the US by the soviets using EMP blasts (EMP ruins electrical and electronic systems, destroying the US military capability). In the series, the soviets break the US down into several new countries and one of the countries was Texas, and actually incuded Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. Cant see any occupation that would ever work in Texas, because so many people own guns and would proudly wage a resistance that would put Iraq to shame.

But I know a lot of Texans (including some kin I have there) would love to see Texas secede from the US (again) and restart the Republic of Texas, complete with Ron Paul as its first President. can see how world political events and the economic debt crisis the US is experiencing, could eventually cause the US to essentially collapse under its own weight. The people in TX, at large, do not agree with the disgusting financial mismanagement, high income taxes, and central banking policies that has plagued the US for decades and aren't going to put up with it forever. There would be, of course, a lot of financial upheaval with this, so there would have to be a transition period for such a thing, but overall I think there are people who want to see this happen.

Also - interestingly enough, Texas is really the only state that is keeping the US from voting in a hard-left Administration and Congress. If TX was not in the picture, the Democrat Liberals would easily win the presidency, based on electoral votes, and would most likely easily implement their socialistic agenda.

Hey - they misspelled Arkansas. Since it should be written phonetically (Note entries for McKinney and Wichita Falls), it should be APKAHCA, not APKAHZAC.

Yeah, well... IT'S NEVER GONNA HAPPEN ! ! ! Got it? LOL

I used to make maps for Unocal in Sugarland while they were developing exploration in Baku and Sakhalin. All the maps I created have to have both English and Russian spellings of all features. They had three interpreters in the building from Moscow, Ukraine and Azerbaijan. I had to be careful which I would go to for clarification as they would change one another's spelling.

I used Canvas (graphics utility) on an x486 with Win95 (was just released then). Using an HP plotter I could produce maps 48" by 5' length, beautiful machine. Hitting both shift keys at the same time would change my font from english to cyrillic. Also had Novell to access the geophysicists Sparc machine to capture screen shots of geophysical data.

I appreciate those days and having the opportunity to learn the cyrillic alphabet. Now when I see news reports showing Moscow or Georgia or things 'Russian' I can decipher some of the words.

Well at least they spelled Одесса right, but I guess that one was kinda easy. Oh wait I guess it could also be spelled Одеса.

Anyone know why Mexico is spelled Мексика but New Mexico is spelled Нью-Мексико?
