Does anyone know why people in Texas ride segways alot? I've seen alot of segway riders in Austin, Houston and Galveston. (mostly Austin)

I'm in San Antonio and work at a university. Our campus cops just started riding Segways, which makes me roll my eyes. They gave up their bikes for Segways. Meanwhile, I can't give my people raises because we don't have the budget for it.

Because many of them are the size and shape of Paul Blart, Mall Cop. Duh.

I think I saw some in the malls over the years, but haven't actually seen them anywhere else in my life...oh, wait, the airport has a couple. Anyway, I have never seen a person using them other than security people, I guess.

They are way cool and fun to ride.

It would make getting around downtown and the universities quicker, but I'm not spending my money on those.

Whatever happened to walking? You know, put one foot in front of the other and repeat. It's worked for thousands of years. Are we so stinking lazy that we have to have something else do the walking for us? And we wonder why the rates of obesity and diabetes are on the rise in the US.

It called the motor vehicle and it has been the choice transportation for Americans for several decades now.

Drive from the house to the airport, segway to loading gate, airplane to wherever, etc. We tend to walk as little as possible (as if it was not obvious from our waist line).

I think there might be a tour operator downtown that uses them. Maybe its a way to get a breeze on ya during the TX summer?
