I'm in San Antonio and work at a university. Our campus cops just started riding Segways, which makes me roll my eyes. They gave up their bikes for Segways. Meanwhile, I can't give my people raises because we don't have the budget for it.

I think I saw some in the malls over the years, but haven't actually seen them anywhere else in my life...oh, wait, the airport has a couple. Anyway, I have never seen a person using them other than security people, I guess.

Whatever happened to walking? You know, put one foot in front of the other and repeat. It's worked for thousands of years. Are we so stinking lazy that we have to have something else do the walking for us? And we wonder why the rates of obesity and diabetes are on the rise in the US.

It called the motor vehicle and it has been the choice transportation for Americans for several decades now.
Drive from the house to the airport, segway to loading gate, airplane to wherever, etc. We tend to walk as little as possible (as if it was not obvious from our waist line).
