It's not very close to Waco, but Copperas Cove has gone above and beyond for our son. He's 7 years old now, and has been with them since ECI handed him over on his 3rd birthday. He has nonverbal autism with SIB and he elopes, comorbid ADHD. They helped him potty train, he's starting to use simple sentences, they're teaching him to write his name and count. It may not sound like much, but if you're dealing with LF autism you understand it's a big deal for us.

Midway School District which covers the more affluent southern suburbs of Waco will have the best programs across the board from SpEd to GT. It is big enough to have specialists and affluent enough to have resources. Some of the smaller districts in the surrounding areas like Lorena and China Spring can be decent but they will lack the staff for dealing with exceptional cases. The districts that cover the poorer areas like Waco ISD and La Vega ISD also have good staff but frankly they are more overwhelmed with all variety of social pathologies and will likely have less ability to provide individual attention.
