Texas is very important to Soros and those like him. It's hard to control the USA unless they can also control States like Texas.

I'm not a Perry fan but I do know that he will fight against this sort of thing. White did a good job for Houston economically and in some other ways also - on the other hand, he also turned Houston into a Sanctuary city. With the Narco war raging on the Texas border, do we really want Texas to become a Sanctuary State?

The risk is too large. It's not the time to take chances, Texas is in much better shape than most other States and we need to keep it that way. I think that White is running at the wrong time, we don't really know enough about his connections and who is funding him. He is a bit too "National" for this Texan.

I have zero interest in somebody like George Soros or TH Kerry funding Texas politicians.

Since when does a Texan care what other States care about us? Look even worse? That sounds like those who think we need to be more concerned about what the UN and the rest of the world think about us than following our Constitution and doing what's best for this country.

Let's just do what is best for Texas and let the other States do what's best for themselves. Some of them are not doing such a great job of it or we wouldn't be getting 1200 out-of-staters moving here each week - of course, as soon as they get here - they want to "change" Texas.

All are welcome - remember why you came. Chances are good they don't come because Texas looks "worse".

It's not? Then why are you always asking for it?

NO ... Texans are different, we recognize that and are even proud of it. We welcome others but don't choose to be "changed" by the imports that states like Montana, Nevada and Colorado have been. Like us? Great. Don't like us? OK That would be your problem and not ours. We prefer to control our CongressCritters and not let them run us into bankruptcy, sell this State to the Unions, follow the FEDS with everything they want to throw at us or give up our States Rights.

Native Texans don't "care" whether other folks think we should "change" to States like California, New York, Illinois or Michigan. We are Texans - that means something to most of us - it means we can think for ourselves and decide what is best for us and not what a political party (any of them) says is best for us.

Texas was Democratic for most of it's history and may go that way again - it's not likely to turn Blue to satisfy Washington D.C. We do what is best for us and don't take kindly to outsiders coming in and trying to control us.

Some posts were deleted above. Here's a reminder for the thread from the TOS.

Stay on topic. Attempts to hi-jack threads by switching topics or going off topic will be deleted and infractions issued. This is not a chat room - when people hi-jack threads by posting messages that are of interest to only few people, the threads often stop being useful discussions of initial topics.
This thread's discussing the upcoming election for the highest elected office in the state. You're in the Texas forum. Stick to this topic and issues within the state here.

This is the most awesome post ever. Bill White will be influenced by Fred Baron? Mr. Baron has been dead for the last two years. So not only do you have to believe in a conspiratorial "shadow party" to vote against Bill White -- you literally have to believe in ghosts that influence politicians.

I was a lifetime Republican -- but Rick Perry turned me into a Democrat, at least insofar as state politics are concerned. Maybe a ghost is to blame?

Whatever you say Moderator cut: off topic/personal...

Baron reportedly left Angle as much as $10 million, a cache Angle has used to replicate what has been called the “Colorado Model” and operate the Texas Democratic Trust. That fund is among the Texas Democratic Party’s primary sources of income, as is Lisa Blue Baron — Baron’s widow. Angle uses the Trust to fuel projects like the Lone Star Fund, the Lone Star Project, and the Texas Justice Fund, while he uses his relationships with former Democratic Rep. Martin Frost staffers like Container Store heiress Aimee Boone to keep the Texas Democratic Party and its nominal chairman under his thumb. Roll Call also reported that Angle uses the Baron fortune to keep himself at the center of a web of Democratic intrigue, and to enrich himself.

Theres no conspiracy necessary. Right now our road building agency has told the state there is no new money for roads. Our Governor instead of dealing with this issue responsibly has told the State that all new roads will be toll roads. Not surprisingly some of his biggest backers are foreign toll road companies.

Again who needs conspiracies when the corruption is right there in your face. If you vote for Rick Perry you are voting for endless toll roads and rubber stamping his out in the open corruption.
