I honestly didn't even know this happened, it was an EF1 or EF2 (about 100 mph). It touched down in The Bronx at 2:50 PM on Sunday, 7 people were injured. There were Tornado Warnings in the past few days but I didn't know this happened.

Fierce storm that rocked Bronx WAS a tornado; first for borough in 36 years

There's damage in The Bronx & Long Island however the latter only got strong winds, not a tornado.

Wow. Pretty amazing.

It might be the first in the Bronx in 36 years...but I think I remember both Hurricane Bob (1991) and Hurricane Gloria (1985) had a few tornados on Long Island when they made landfall. I'm sure the hurricanes of the 1950's had a few too.

There was one in Brooklyn a few years back, no injuries thankfully.

I don't know about this a tornado hitting in June of 2010, but I know a EF1 tornado hit parts of New York in September 16 of that year though.
