I was at home in Cape Coma when my cell phone went off with an alarm sound. Looking at it I saw TORNADO WARNING! Gosh, thanks folks, but WHERE IS IT? I found out later it had hit about a mile from my house. Not long after the cell phone warning a convoy of emergency vehicles went screaming past. I thought I'd got away from this kind of thing after moving out of Alabama in 2011.... I guess. not.

Who cares? When you get that warning on your phone, take cover immediately! You can find out where the tornado touched down later.
Tornado prediction and tracking has become accurate enough that most places aren't issuing county-wide alerts any more, but are instead only issuing alerts for smaller areas. And since so many cellphones these days have GPS; cell phone alerts can be extremely precise. (Which is a good thing!)

Unfortunately every part of the US can experience a tornado (although they are most common between the Rockies and the Appalachians). Even spots like Massachusetts (which we don't usually think of as tornado territory) have experienced violent (F4 and F5) tornadoes in the past.
Last night was a busy one, I watched TWC for about 2 hours and saw 6 or 8 form on the storm chaser live cams, I think they said there were 33 total. I wish someone would step up and take over TVN Weather and restore the chase cams android app, none of the remaining websites work on my tablet.

I was using Severe Studios yesterday on my Android. Not an app but the desktop version, and watched those multiple tornadoes around Dodge City. Quite a few were "telegenic".
I was watching that one on TWC, they had live video on it from start to finish, makes me glad I'm in New England when I see something like that, an occasional blizzard is about the worst we usually deal with.

Speaking of New England... Quincy lived in CT, worked for a good company as a meteorologist and decided to storm chase....not in New England of course. He said its such a different experience when there are clear views and no congestion on the roads.
