Absolutely. Not really my kind of place, but I went once or twice in the late-90’s. Never saw Stompin’ Tom, unfortunately. Just some generic rock/blues kind of band from what I remember. The second time, I was so drunk, I remember nothing of the music.

If you can remember a concert, were you really there?

It’s right next to one of my all-time fave venues - the back of the Rivoli. I went to some great parties there. Oh yeah! I remember two great concerts I saw at the Horseshoe - Antibalas Afro-Beat Orchestra. I saw them there twice.
Yeah, sure. The Horseshoe had every kind of music. Rock was kind of the staple, but they did everything but jazz and electronic, as a far as I know. If you wanted jazz, you went up the street to the Rex. If you wanted EDM, every other club in the city was playing it.
I think the Rolling Stones played there once as a surprised warmup gig.
I'm not sure if the Stones ever played the Horseshoe, but I do know that they did a surprise gig at the El Mocambo (Spadina, just south of College), in about 1979.

Yeah, they did. And I think they did a second, commemorative gig there to kick off a tour in the 2000’s. Too bad Toronto’s lost many of its classic venues: the Phoenix, Montreal Jazz Bistro, the Warehouse, Comfort Zone, Silver Dollar, The Concert Hall (Masonic Lodge on Yonge), and on and on. I’m glad I got to see a lots of concerts and hit a lot of great parties at these venues when I was a teen. The Opera House still exists, right?
