I saw one of these the other day, and thought was very cute and modern looking. A young college type kid got into it, just wondering, is this auto targeted for the younger generation? Does it get good mileage? Can't find too much about it, except that it is a Toyota. Anyone driving this car?

yes they are geared towards a younger audience but older people drive them too. Heh I remember being 16 when the first xB came out and being pissed off seeing older people in them more then young.

The xA and first gen xB gets 30+ mpg the newer xB and xD gets horrible mpg in the 20s. Forget about the tC if you want good mpg.

Default Scion

Consumer Reports rates the tC and xB highly and both are a recommended buy.

CR observed mileage:

tC - 26 MPG
xB - 23 MPG

Which model, Lilypad?

The new Coupe (TC, I believe) is one very sharp looking vehicle!

They do seem to be targeted towards the younger generation. My 2004 Scion xA gets around 38mpg on the highways. It's a great commuter vehicle. Too bad Toyota stopped making them.

Why geared just toward younger people?

Did not know they were no longer made, maybe is why I can't find much on them. The one I saw looked very new. It was a 4-door and looked like a very small bus to me, was very square.

I like the TCs. The scions are targeted more to the younger crowd. They usually come with iPOD/cell phone hook ups, bluetooth synch, satellite radio, cd- changer, etc. Plus the cars are made so that they can be modified (after-market).

Not that the older crowd wouldn't use any of these features. The younger crowd would benefit more from the car.

I think the xD is supposed to be it's successor... but it looks to me (I haven't spent much time looking) like it grew a little bit.

I've seen a LOT of old ladies in xB's... makes me laugh sometimes to see 'em bucking the trend.

I purchased a brand new '06 TC back in '06. Too be honest with you; I felt the car was made very cheaply. The car felt kind of light on the road (like a tin can) After a year the sun visor wouldn't go up.....the leather around the stick shift ripped...the gas charged shocks that hold open the trunk blew out. A lot of little things were going wrong after year 2...The under inflated tire light would keep going on, the mechanism on the seat broke and the hood started having paint chipping. I decided to trade it in while it was still worth something. Got an '08 Mitsubishi Eclipse. I have to say it is built 100's of times better than the Scion!! I would never buy another Scion.

I had the first box (xb) in Miami in 2004. I LOVED IT! However, I moved to Jacksonville and driving back and forth up I95 to Miami with the big rigs wasn't very stable. I traded it in 2 years later and even made $400 on it! I'm looking to buy another used one for the side vehicle. It got great gas mileage and is huge inside. I'm not crazy about the new style of the xb but will consider an 04-06 used.
