Toyota Motor Corp., which just announced a recall of more than 4 million Lexus and Toyota vehicles for sudden acceleration, now faces an investigation from U.S. regulators into complaints of random stalling.
According to a document released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration last week, the agency is investigating more than two dozen complaints from drivers alleging their cars stalled while underway, including while on a highway or at an intersection.
Toyota's (minus the Supra TT and MR2 Turbo) dont accelerate anyways, sounds like a typical problem! I thought people knew that when they test drove them?

It's typical news hype following the highly publicized Lexus floor mat wreck. Toyota is on everyone's radar screen, and every armchair expert is eagerly awaiting news of the potential cover-up they KNOW is lurking right below the surface, just waiting to be discovered.
The reality is, NHTSA routinely receives consumer complaints about vehicles. Some vehicles have screen page after screen page of complaints about the same part or malfunction, yet no news story ever surfaces about those vehicles. This situation resembles the sudden newsworthiness of garden variety bird strikes on aircraft, after AWE1549 splashed in the Hudson River. A year ago, a single bird strike with a return trip to the airport would have gone totally unnoticed. Now it's a nationwide attention-grabber.
Pherhaps they wont accelerate because the brake pedals are getting stuck on the floor mats?
Close... the floor mats are now bunching up UNDERNEATH the throttle. Just like that family in Des Moines... they were at a green light at FULL STOP, no matter how hard they pressed the gas pedal it just would not move, tragic.
