Toyota Motor Corp. issued yet another recall Wednesday, this time announcing a program to upgrade the software in the vehicle stability control system on about 50,000 early-2003 Toyota Sequoia sport utility vehicles.

The electronic system is designed to prevent a loss of traction in turns as a result of front or rear tire slippage during cornering.

Is this getting to be ridiculous, or does it somehow make Toyota look like they're taking greater responsibility for their products now?

I'm thinking this is identical to the Lexus GX recall we saw recently since I believe the GX and Sequoia are basically the same truck and share many of the same components. In fact, both issues seem to be related to traction control which further backs that argument.

I see, I'm guessing the traction control hardware is very similar between the GX, 4Runner and Sequoia.

A good driver doesn't need traction control.

Exactly. If this were any other company, it would not be a headline news. But because it's Toyota, they know people will sit up and take notice.
