I agree.
And I have no way of proving this, but I wonder if some of the reviews are fake.
But I often feel the same way just reading a guidebook. Even genuine opinions are subjective.

Yeah, thats why i take them all with a grain of salt. I mean some folks give a bad review and one star to Hiltons which are perfectly fine. I guess its where you come from but some people are just crazy. When i see the little one sentance reviews and its usually by Guest or something, i tend to think those are fake...

While I frequently use TA when planning vacations it is for the most part satisfying my curiosity in viewing the images posted of the hotel, restaurant or tourist site. The system where unverifiable reviews can be posted by an internal or competing business pretty much destroys any credibility most any of these reviews might have. With the competitive nature of the travel industry in general, it can be assumed that there is a great deal of "manipulation" in these reviews.

You can usually tell which reviews are legit and which ones are a little fishy. Obviously this messed up the rankings and star rating that places have though. Like i said, i take it all with a grain of salt. I dont need much out of a place so negative reviews dont scare me. I usually just pick out a couple that look legit and write those people to get the real scoop.
