When traveling on a crowded airplaine, it’s a flight attendant’s duty to find storage for excess cargo ... just as long as it’s not somebody’s kid. A Virgin Blue flight attendant was sacked for placing a 17-month-old baby in an overhead bin.
Intentions were good, but this is just the case where you have to really think before you do it, definitely a poor decision. Although if you want my opinion, it doesn't seem that bad at all and if i was a little kid i'd probably think its funny or cool being put up there for a FULL 10 seconds In the end, the FA should have asked permission.
FATHER was placing child in bin, with mother present, when flight attendant walked by. Probably not the safest if turbulence hits, not the smartest act from an airline safety viewpoint, but no more dangerous then any child on airplane with seatbelt off when you think of it. People laughing and smiling, child laughing and smiling, FA laughing and smiling. Then mother goes crazy on FA. This was over 3 months ago.
Now she is claiming "mental anguish" and the need of years and years of therapy for her now "emotionally scarred" child.
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/vic...-1226016403074 "I was devastated. I was absolutely devastated. "I was crying. My husband was in shock. For days on end I was crying." Ms Williamson said Riley, now 20 months, had seen various specialists since the incident after suffering from anxiety and withdrawal.
..yeah right, sure.
Conclusion? = Phycho mom out to get a buck. Flight Attendant lost job for making a poor judgement call. Father, naturally, is divorcing this nut-case.
Can the mother be checked into baggage and stored under the plane w/ the rest of checked baggage. Then sent on a flight around the world and lost w/ all of the other lost checked baggage. Mother sounds like a nutjob.
Do you? Just how unsafe can it be? What can happen to a baby up there? At least nobody will spill hot coffee on it.
On crowded buses in South America, mothers hold their babies out the window, to pee. It never does them any harm.
Common sense will tell you why. It's not padded for babies, they would not be strapped in, their heads are soft and not developed and would be injured. The turbulance, bouncing around during the landing and takeoffs would also damage their heads and maybe arms and legs. They would probably die of oxygen starvation since the compartment door has to remain shut for safety reasons.
