Trying to decide if we should break up the "there" portion into more than 2 days. Making the trip with 2 adults and 5 girls. Spending more than 2-3 days each way would be too much since we'll be in Myrtle Beach for 6 nights also.

Looks to me like Birmingham, AL would be a good halfway point if we decide on just 2 days. But if we try and split it into thirds on the way there, would Meridian, MS and then the Atlanta area OR Pensacola/Mobile and then Jacksonville make sense?

I can figure out all the mileage but I'm curious if anyone has opinions on things to see/do if we decide to split it out into three days on the way there.

Thanks.

I don't see how you can NOT split it out to 3 traveling days (in each direction).
Not with a bunch of kids in the car.

As for places to stop... what interests you?

Well, we'll have a 15 year old down to a 4 year old. Pretty much anything will entertain them.

If that's true.... then I say go to a beach much closer to home.
I was down on S Padre Is at Christmas... it was nice even then.

depending on how long per day you want to drive.. I'd suggest Birmingham, Atlanta, or maybe Charleston (as stops).
