Have you ever walked across a state line? (bridge, passport, trip)

I can remember several times I've done it, and there might be a few I can't remember.

When I was hitchhiking north out of Texarkana, I had never yet been in Texas, so I walked across the road just to make sure.

Also in Texas, I saw a Mexican restaurant just as I was driving into Anthony NM, so I parked and walked back to Texas to the restaurant.

The Bluefield Orioles play in a baseball stadium that is in Virginia, but most of the parking lot is in West Virginia.

When I go to Cincinnati Reds games, I park in Covingron Kentucky and walk across the pedestrian Ohio River bridge.

West of Salem,New Jersey,there is a little bit of Delaware on the eastern shore of the Delaware River, which is a desolae area good for birdwatching, and I've walked around there on both sides of the line.

Also good birdwatching at the power plant across the US-67 bridge from Alton Illinois. Mostly in Missouri but the state line follows the old river course, with a little bit of Illinois on the Missour side.

Where US-93 crosses from Idaho to Monana,there is a big gravel pullout, where I got out and walked around.

But I've never been to the "Four Corners", where you can stand in four states at once.

Yep...Four Corners. It was anti-climactic.

I paddled my sea kayak from NC to SC.

I've done this frequently when I take pictures of state lines, and signage on the roads. I've done one 3-way point, NY-PA-NJ. (For extra credit, where was I when I managed??)

Never thought i'd see a Bluefield Orioles reference. I used to work in the Appy League (for Princeton) and went to a handful of Bluefield games. I knew it was in Virginia and i remember seeing the State sign when you turned to head in.

I've golfed on a course that was half in NC and the other half was in SC. The road to get there was on the divider line.

I remember one outing I annoyed my friends doing this.

Turns out, even those of us that have been to "Four Corners" really haven't been in spite of what the officials would have us believe with their defense of "well gee, it's pretty close to where it should be"

Any of the mapping/staellite sites of the monument makes it apparent that some liberties are taken with manipulating the state lines to line up on top of the monument.

NY/NJ/PA - A ice flow in the middle of the Delaware river, (or the break down lane on I84 East ) is 20' or so from the line in Port Jervis.

I've done the walk across the line, We sort have a thing going in the family how many states have you been to, Countries, Continents ....
When I was in Switzerland and I skied 20' Meters into Italy ... So I guess that counts .....

I've walked from California to Nevada in Tahoe. We stayed near Stateline on the California side and walked to the casino on the Nevada side.

I've always wanted to go to Four Corners but I know it would be, as mdp_az said, anticlimactic. I would stop if I was passing through, but to take a special trip would feel like a waste of time and gas.

Walking across international borders is pretty common. In most of the third world, there is no public transportation from one country to another. A bus from Country A takes you to passport control, and you walk across the border to Country B's passport control, and from there there is an onward bus. I've probably walked across about half of the borders I've crossed. From Zambia to Malawi, it was a couple of miles through the bush.
