I want to hear it!

As for me I am going to be very adventerous and fly myself (private pilot) wayyy up north to a town named Schefferville (population just 200)which is located in the boreal forest of Subarctic Quebec and is only accessable by railway or snowmobile (and air of course).

From there I'm going to hire a floatplane pilot to fly me from there to an abandoned outpost 200 miles away called Nitchequon which is even more remote than Schefferville and is 80 miles from the nearest road and 150 miles from the Nearest town of Labrador City.

Other than being a passenger on an airliner flying across the ocean, this will be the furthest from civilization I'll have been ever in my life!!

I'm lucky in that 95% of the destinations I most want to travel to are less than 1500 miles from my front door and this is no exception!

So please share stories where you will be going this year on vacation. I KNOW I win the prize for the most esoteric destination!

I'm leaving to Israel for a few days next week and hope to make a little pit-stop in Rome.

Your 'leaving civilization behind' travel plans do sound relaxing. I'm a bit jealous!

I'm on my way to Mexico in two weeks. Then Madrid, Berlin and a few weeks in Egypt.

Driving cross-country to California and back. Nothing I haven't done before, but looking forward to seeing friends along the way.
