How the hell could I possibly forgotten Times Square last night?? Talk about overrated.
And filthy. Wow. I can only feel underwhelmed when I see Manhattan's biggest road intersection trying oh so hard to be the world's worst kids' theme park.
Venice you'll enjoy if you limit your stay to one or two days max.
Niagara Falls you only really need half a day to get what you came for. I recommend including it as a stop while you spend at minimum 3 days in Toronto.
New Orleans has phenomenal food. I actually like their Harrah's casino too.
NYC, Philly, D.C. are all outstanding if you know what you're doing.
I live in Orlando. We're more than just theme parks.
Athens does not represent Greece. Spend a few days in Athens, but go see the rest of the main land and get on a ferry for island hopping. Mykonos can be fantastic, you just need to know which parts of the island to visit.
for us and it is just a matter of opinion: Cancun does nothing for us and Niagara Falls was a huge disappointment. I realize the weather was bad and hubby didn't feel well, but I still think we would have been disappointed a bit.
Why not talk about favorites: for us: Hong Kong and Krakow Poland head the list of favorites.
I'd love to go to Krakow. I heard it's beautiful. I've been to Gdansk and I liked it, but it's extremely touristy. I'm thinking I could hit up Krakow as a side trip from Prague one of these times.
The problem with avoiding tourist areas is that you would also avoid the worlds most interesting and beautiful places. The reason tourists go to Venice is because it is unique, interesting and beautiful. Of course, everyone has their own interests, but here is how I would distinguish between "tourist traps" and "interesting places that have lots of tourists".
I am lucky in that I seem to have discovered some of the most BEAUTIFUL blue water and deserted beaches that are all in a location that almost NO tourists know about! All the times I've been to these beaches they have been completely empty with not another soul in sight!!
That being said, I am NOT going to give away the location of these islands other than they are somewhere in Caribbean
Las Vegas: possibly the nastiest place I've ever visited
Paris: dirty, overcrowded, full of hawkers, and the locals are just plain rude. We did a one day visit and that was plenty enough.
Venice: dirty, overcrowded but St.Marks Square really does have to be seen to be appreciated
Florida: all of it .. you can keep it.
Alaska: lived there for 5 years, I'm not ready to part with big bucks for a view of the fog and the mist and the rain ohhh the rain and maybe a moose or 2. You could of course visit in the winter and actually see some of the sights but then all the touristy stuff is closed and so are the roadside stops.
Vieques? It's my usual guess for largely undiscovered Caribbean.
Nope, its not Vieques. Far less known than that!
