Driving from the Quad Cities to New Jersey (attraction, destination, places)

What kind of family tourist attraction could we visit along the way while traveling from the Quad Cities to New Jersey on I-80 East?

When? How much time along the way, (either coming east or returning), to spend on 'stops'?
Family as in M&D and toddlers, pre-teens, teens, gramps?

Sorry I should have explained a little better - the Quad Cities consists of Bettendorf & Davenport IA and Rock Island & Moline IL

We will probably be spending approximately 1 1/2 weeks going East and making stops along the way. We have two daughters, ages 12 and 10 and I think that anything would interest us. We are originally from South Dakota and we love places like the Mt Rushmore and the Badlands, Wall Drug, etc....

And, any reason for I-80 vs dropping down and taking I-70 across and into PA?
