Bocas del Toro was the first area that sprang to mind. Sounds pretty accessible. I've never been but photos look great.
I have to admit I'm excited to see Bocas del toro. I'm just hoping it's not more touristy than I like. That's a big reason I chose panama over costa rica. Although my wife won't care so I guess it won't be the end of the world.
It's a myth that Costa Rica is more touristy than Panama. There are touristy parts to both countries and sleepy/local areas in both. Some parts of CR never see a tourist at all.
Have fun. The weather will be perfect, 93 degrees for high with a low of 75. Just watch out for crocodiles, especially during feeding frenzy. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry to much about them. They have their space in waterway, and you'll have yours. These crocs are not that aggressive and not really out to get you.
