Any tourist website and forums contain tons of information about Cancun, one of the most visited resorts for North Americans.

Thank you! I've poured over that site. I was looking for CD folks' thoughts and experiences.

We just stayed at Hyatt Ziva in January and absolutely loved it. We were traveling as a couple this time but I would certainly bring my 9yo son back with us the next time. Very family friendly with two unique beaches (it's on the elbow of the "7" that makes up the Cancun hotel zone) so they've got one really huge beach on the one side and then on the other is a calm lagoon like beach area that's great for little swimmers and adults. No waves really so you can just enjoy it for a long time without getting beat up! The food and drinks were great as well with plenty of diversity for anyone. It's also within walking distance of plenty of other touristy type restaurants, bars and shops if you desire to leave the property on foot, which we did.

I'm trying to think of what negatives I would have for the place but honestly I'm drawing a blank. I'm a pretty seasoned traveler as well so for me not to have at least one thing that was "eh" is pretty good! haha

I've been a few times, and I would recommend the Riviera Maya or Playa Del Carmen as opposed to Cancun proper.

I have a friend who snorkels a lot suggest that I go to Playa de Carmen. I will check out the Riviera Maya before I book. Thank you!

If you have an interest in snorkeling or diving then Cozumel might be your place.
