Ya I would be fine with a level 2. Level 3 or 4, prob not. Just be vigiliant.

Yeah, I am not sure I'd want to travel to a very dangerous place, but on the other hand, I twice came close to getting killed just being at work in NYC.

You know there is an active war zone in Syria where JDAMs are dropped by fighter jets, artillery lobs shells, tanks burn, and chemical weapons occasionally decimate entire towns right?
Depends on how dangerous I felt it was. Politics will always enter the picture on advisory ratings. Everybody is biased.
We have over 80,000 SWAT raids/year in the US. Over three people are executed by police every day. The far left is yearning for Civil War. Something to consider anyway.
I was just in Mexico (Level 2) - absolutely loved it. I'm sure there are areas where there are drug wars and gang activity but the Baja Peninsula was beautiful. As others have said, I'm not going to venture into places such as Syria or Beirut, but with a little research and reasonable precautions, I'm OK with Level 2.

In a way Level 2 adds a bit to the adventure. Some of our most popular sports are Level 2 and 3. Wingsuiting is Level Dead, if they do it enough, from what I gather.
Yes I would and I really did! I'm just back from Syria and it was a very interesting experience. Especially Damascus feels like a real normal middle-eastern country that is absolutely safe for tourists. Even at night I feel safer than in European cities...
and... Syrians are the most hospitable people I've ever met! amazing! I always search through travel forums to find the latest true info ob safety
Exactly my experience. When I lived in Jordan, I had to go to Syria regularly, and I always looked forward to it. Had good friends in Latakia.
I didn't know Damascus was so far removed from the trouble, glad to hear it.
