A passenger was removed from an American Airlines flight at Dallas–Fort Worth on Monday after refusing to leave his seat.
The man was assigned a seat in row 36 of the aircraft but when he boarded the plane, he sat down in the first row of economy class, according to local news WFAA.
When the passenger who was supposed to have that seat boarded the plane, the man refused to move. “Don't force me. Don't violate my freedom. That's my seat. You don't like it. Switch it,” the passenger said in video captured of the incident.
The video of him trying to stand up while being handcuffed to the wheelchair coming off the gangway is priceless. Mental illness is real and it's all around each and everyone of us everyday.
There was a video awhile back of a woman freaking out about being removed from an airplane. She was refusing to leave, and when they brought the cops to drag her out she started fighting to stay on the plane, at one point she even screamed out "someone help me" to which of course the other passengers all laughed.
I cannot imagine what was going on in her head where she thought she could win that fight by stubbornly refusing to leave. It takes an astounding level of self-delusion to believe that pilot is going to say "okay you win we'll let you stay" and even greater level to think she would physically defeat the police officers to the point they gave up and told the airline to just take her since they had no way of removing her. Incredibly stupid.
I couldn't upgrade to FC (it was full) so the airline put me in window bulkhead. I walked on the plane and someone was sitting in my seat. He said, "Here sweetheart, be a good girl and go sit in my seat".
I was just coming off a long work week in NYC and not having it.
I walked into the cockpit and asked the Captain for help.
He threw the guy off the plane. The Captain wasn't having it either.

Good move! Too bad they don't just ban these people from flying.
