What about the U.S. Virgin Islands?

What about some of the Florida beaches? Someone I know went to the Emerald Coast on the panhandle. Said the water was gorgeous and like being in the Caribbean. Sugar white sand.

No going to Ecuador right now. Guayaquil in particular is dangerous and full of gangs. The beach is not that great either. I'm dreading just going to the airport next month.

Been to Florida many, many times. Actually, just got back. We love Florida but I'm looking for something father away. Thanks though!

St. Thomas is overrun with mega cruise ships docking. Almost every day, there are several ships in port.

For example, August 23, the Disney Fantasy and Royal Caribbean Wonder will dock. They will bring almost 10,000 visitors to the small island.

St. Johns is a better island to visit if you want to stay in the USVI. You fly to St. Thomas, but then take a ferry to St. Johns. Much more rural and quieter.

Only place I can think of in AK would be Bishop's beach in Homer. It's definitely off the beaten path. However, usually the air is chilly there and the water temperature is definitely not amenable to swimming.

Someone I know was based on St. Croix for a while. From their stories it sounded like a nice place to visit for a beach vacation.

Yup, I read the mayor of Manta was assassinated. Take care there.

I don't think people go to the beach within Guayaquil itself. They go to nearby beach towns such as Playas and Salinas. But right now it seems that Guayaquil isn't a very safe place to visit in general.
