In the near future (possibly October, if not at that time, then April 09) we will be moving from Detroit, Michigan to Las Vegas.
My husband will be driving the moving van and towing his truck, I will be following behind him in my Saturn. He will have our 6 year old son in the truck with him and I'll have our almost 2 year old daughter with me. We also have 2 dogs (pug & boxer) 2 himalayan cats, 2 hamsters and a hermit crab.
I'm looking for suggestions on EVERYTHING.
- What rental place to go through? (U-haul, Budget, Penske)
- Places to see on the way there (We'll be driving through, Illinois, Indiana, Colorado, Nebraska, Utah, the top portion of Arizona and finally Nevada)
- Nice places to stay for the night. They don't have to be 5 star but I don't want my kids sleeping in a nasty ghetto hotel room. Also I want to plan this trip out to a T, I want to schedule our nightly stops instead of driving and driving until we find a hotel to finally stop at.
- Also I'm not quite sure on how to handle our pet situation, can anyone suggest anything? I don't think more than 1 dog will fit into a U-haul with my son and husband. But then again, I don't really want three cats and a dog in my little Saturn with me and my daughter, so suggestions please?
And anything else you can suggest. Thanks in advance.
