I'm gonna be passing through the area soon with a couple friends, since one of them really wants to see the town that carries that distinctive name, "Walla Walla". I've never actually done anything in the Tri-Cities, though, besides just walking around their downtowns a bit.

Is there anything good that you'd show to tourists? We don't have super high standards, we just like doing something more interesting on our stops than just getting gas and hopping right back in the car. The statue of the lower half of that guy's body in downtown Kennewick is on my list, seems like a funny thing to get selfies with. Any sites related to the Manhattan Project, or even just an old interesting diner or shop with a lot of knick-knacks inside? (We are all fully vaccinated)

Depending on timing, and they may be suspended now due to COVID, you could do the B-Reactor tour. When you get a chance to do this tour, you should do it if you possibly can, very historic. Of course since I work in the nuclear field it's more interesting to me than to people not in the field, I would think.

You might consider taking Canyon Road from Ellensburg to just outside Yakima, rather than the Interstate (I am assuming you are coming here from Seattle). Twisty and scenic road, although somewhat of a speed trap if you are not careful. There is a fly fishing/river rafting/condo place about halfway of Canyon Road, I think they have a restaurant, which I have not tried yet, but looks promising in ads.

You should drive through Columbia Park which begins about at Columbia Center Blvd about a half mile north of the mall, or just off Hwy 240. Take it eastbound all the way down to where it goes under the Blue bridge, then visit Clover Island, which is slated for redevelopment.

If so inclined, check the in town wineries up at Queensgate just south of I-182.

For a terrific view of the entire region drive up to the top of “Little Badger”. It can be accessed by Gage Blvd to the west then east on Moreney Dr then follow road to the top. Only about a 15 minute trip up and down.

The 911/World Trade Center Memorial is located at Hwy 395 and Hildebrand in Kennewick. Right across the ball field is the GESA Carousel of Dreams (if open). A couple of fairly decent restaurants in the area also, Enjoy!
