Doesn't matter,he should be in jail.
There were extenuating circumstances which led to the crime but I do agree with you that he should have got some jail time.

Another myth, that lonely men hire escorts just to "talk."

He should have done his research with the big head.

This is a common scam for dial-a-hookers, where they show up and take the money and run. The "driver" is ready to beat and maybe even kill the hapless chump if he resists, though his mere presence is usually enough. Dangerous work but as you can see, it can very lucrative for almost no work.

And sometimes it goes the other way.

The jury disagrees, and probably saw a lot more than provocative headlines.

Are you promoting Sharia Law? Last time I checked, thievery was not punishable by death in the USA.

Any other state he'd probably be in jail.

There are connotations attached to the word "Escort", the assumption of men using these services includes sex. Risky activity for all involved.

I wonder how often this woman had done the same scam, knowing most men would not report the theft for an illegal transaction. She scammed the wrong man this time.
Are you saying it is OK to shoot a person if they renege on a contract? The streets would be flowing with blood if this was the case.

No. I said,"she is a thief". Breaking a contract is fine. Taking the money, and leaving was the problem.

I find it appalling that anyone (I'm thinking of the jury) could remotely conceive of the notion that in a such a situation, you are entitled to kill someone.

Now, if I had been on the jury and he had given her a black eye, I probably would have trouble convicting him of assault in that situation. If he had simply used physical force to take the money back from her, I know I wouldn't have convicted him of anything.

Physical force and assault would be unwarranted.
