I'm a little intrigued by the Mother's Day tribute the elder daughter posted on her Facebook before the incident:
“I am so grateful for everything you do. Thank you for always believing in me and supporting me. Thank you for the early morning crafts, upside down clowns on my birthday, gingerbread decorating parties, and for always showing up. . . . Thank you for the past 19 years and I look forward to the many more to come. I love you so much.”
Especially the "I look forward to the many more to come". Doesn't sound very normal to me. Mother's Day is celebrated every year.
As usual in so many instances the guy has a long record. Typical thug that deserves death penalty if conflicted to eliminate the risk of him ever getting out.

Unfortunately, Washington DC has no death penalty, so life in prison with no parole will be his fate. But at least we will be spared Sister Helen Prejean playing her Useful Idiot act, as she did with the Boston Marathon bomber, and telling us that this piece of garbage "is truly remorseful for what he did."
DC be like that. The city had 500 murders in 1991.
