Actually there are victims' families that are against the death penalty. The group Murder Victims' Families for Human Rights has published a booklet entitled "Not in Our Name" explaining their anti-death penalty stance: http://mvfr.org/wp-content/uploads/ca-nion.pdf
Personally, I am very fortunate to not have had to face this situation. But I would hope that ultimately I would see beyond my own anger and realize that killing another human being cannot bring back my loved ones. I suppose I believe in the proverb, "He who seeks vengeance must dig two graves."
How about an eye for an eye??
I am sure there are some members of the victims family against the death penalty, but I am certain more are glad to see him gone.
I don't understand this anti-death penalty sentiment. What purpose does it serve to have this guy sit in a maximum security prison for 40 years? Why should we as a society pay for it? Wouldn't that money be better spent somewhere else? Even if it were used to rehabilitate a lesser offender and help make him/her productive in society.
Thank God Virginia still has the guts to use the death penalty. I'm pleasantly suprised that Obama, Pelosi and co. didn't try and intervene on this mutts behalf. Kudos to all for letting justice be done.

Thank God my beloved Virginia actually carried it out in good time. 7 years is not ideal but 20 would be murder for the victim's families.
I do not believe in an eye for an eye. As difficult as it is, I am called to turn the other cheek. It is said that an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.

It has been shown that executions and death penalty cases cost significantly more than life without parole in maximum security isolation. Perhaps a better question would be why are we wasting our money killing murderers when it is cheaper to neutralize them by other means?

Oh please stop with this ******* garbage. This monster killed 10 PEOPLE. He should of been hanged.

Why can't we just put everyone who is on death row into a battle royale on PPV where the winner (he/she who ends up alive) gains their freedom and everyone else ends up dead? Instead of spending thousands to execute them, we'd EARN hundreds of millions in PPV buys every year.
They could even have themes, like Chainsaw day, Crossbow day or flamethrower day.
People would watch it...
