I was on my walk this morning, and as I hit the 2 mile mark, instead of turning toward home for the last half mile, I decided to head west on Mission Twin Buttes from the east dead end to Camino del Sol, then walk back to Calle Montanosa, then turn in for home. About 4 minutes after I made that decision, I saw a Gila Monster on the pavement about 30 feet in front of me, then I looked up and saw cars coming. I stood in the traffic lane and waved my arms and motioned people to go around me. A couple of people stopped in the lane and came to see what was going on. The rest is on the video. Life is so funny! Had I not decided to extend my walk just when I did, take the route I did, and walk at the speed I walk, I would have missed the Gila Monster encounter, and the Gila Monster may have been run over. FYI, this was about 100 feet west of Paseo Bolsa and on the south side of Mission Twin Buttes. Anyhow, I am happy for the encounter, that the Gila Monster got across the road safely, and to share the experience with you all!!!

Thank you for directing traffic so this little guy or gal could cross the road safely! Interesting how life works, that your decision to walk a different route likely ended up saving this Gila Monster's life. The coloring is different from the other one you posted -- maybe they get more colors as they get older? (you said this one was smaller). Enjoyed your video, thank you!
