You just never know what you might see if you look outside in Green Valley, AZ! I was just loading the dishwasher when I happened to look out on the patio through the kitchen slider. And what to my wondering eyes should appear? A large black snake and no damn reindeer! It was about 11:30am when I first saw the snake which means it was 90+ degrees outside. I am sure the snake was hunting (snakes are always hunting), but I think it paused in the shade of my patio for temperature control. Once it saw me, it took off like a shot! This is one reason I think this was a coachwhip, because they are known to be very fast (up to 3.6 miles per hour). Anyway, it covered the 30 feet or so from my patio to the fence in literally 2 or 3 seconds! I was really shocked at how fast it was. I watched the snake for the next hour or so, and finally gave up to get some lunch. Did you know that this type of snake can grow to more than 8 feet in length? I hope you enjoy getting to see this snake up close and personal!!! If you would like to know more about this snake, please go to: https://www.desertmuseum.org/books/nh...

It wasn't a bull snake. Might be a coach whip if they come in that color. Interesting to see its behaviors up close, so thanks for sharing this.
