The first part of the video are evening visits, that is why there is no color. The camera goes in to a different mode at night. We see Mamas with babies a few days apart, then we see a crazy javelina chase! I am not sure what was going on there, but I hope that one got away! A couple of years ago, there was a story in the local paper about a javelina fight that ended with one of them dying. Sad, but true.

Fortunately, this morning, I was able to get about 4 minutes of good color daytime video of 10 javelina that visited our house including two sets of babies. The first ones you see that have a red tint to their coat are probably a few weeks old, and as you can see, still nursing. The other pair appear to be 6 to 8 weeks old. They are just SO cute!!! I had visited a neighbor across the street who will turn 98 this month on New Year's eve. I was walking up my driveway from that visit, and as I got close to the house, I saw some movement on the west side and saw that it was javelina, so I hurried in to the house through the garage and grabbed my camera. I thought I would get the best shot of them from the back yard, but by the time I got out there, they were on the move, so I ran through the house and garage and out the side door in to the breezeway, and that is where I got this video. Not exactly the best spot, but the best safe spot for sure!!! You do not want to mess with javelina when they have babies, they are very protective, even with other javelina.

The babies are adorable! Their nubby little ears, and how they stay right with their mother -- she walks, they walk; she stops, they stop. Very well-mannered and no rambunctiousness during their outing. Neat to watch, thank you!

I love your javelina videos, I am fascinated by them. Those babies are too cute.

Do they come to your place b/c of the water, or is it just their normal habitat?

Spouse & I took a trip to Tucson years ago, & ended up at a restaurant in the outskirts that had huge viewing windows in the dining area, where you could see the beautiful desert & many desert birds & animals, but what I remember the most were the javelina & their babies. We must have sat there observing for a couple of hours!

Thanks for your videos!

So glad you enjoyed the video wildflowers27! Yes, those babies are very cute, and they do a good job at staying with Mama because they know that their lives depend upon it in terms of nursing and protection from predators. I love seeing them around, but I really do treasure their visits to the house!!!

Thanks for watching and your comment CalWorth! Glad to know that you enjoy the javelina videos. My home (and most in my neighborhood) are on the game trails that the javelina and other animals use to get from one place to another. Sometimes they come for water, no doubt about that, but sometimes they are just on the way to somewhere else, and I happen to capture them on video.

We have a restaurant here in Green Valley called Coyote Grill that has a view like the one you described where you can look out the window and see wildlife. One of the waitresses there showed me a video she took there at work from one of the windows near where we sat, and it showed a coyote attacking a snake and running off with it. You just never know what you might see!!! We agree that the javelina babies are beyond cute!!!
